What is the current state of Nintendo 64 emulation?
Mupen64Plus and its ParaLLEl tech is the current state of the art, but it requires a decently powerful GPU and tends to lack on the UI side. The best ways to play it are either via M64P or RetroArch.

Mupen64Plus also has a standalone version with a more traditional desktop UI over at M64P, and Genesis Plus GX is also present in other multi-core emulator setups like BizHawk

What's a sale?
It doesn't hold up on original hardware at all, but can be a lot of fun at 60fps with mouse & keyboard controls.
