Could Checkm8 A5 lead to a jailbreak?
I haven't tested this on any A5 devices so I can't say for certain if it works, but it is actually possible to downgrade to iOS 8.4.1 using checkm8 pwned DFU mode — at least that's what I did on my iPad 4. Since you're on A5, enter pwned DFU as normal using your Arduino Uno + host shield. Now download the irecovery source from here and compile (git clone, ./autogen.sh, make, & sudo make install).

[Tutorial] Updating an A12 device to 14.3 with futurerestore on Windows
IMPORTANT NOTE: if FR exits before the restore begins, your device may get stuck in recovery mode. FR's built in "--exit-recovery" option doesn't work, so in order to get out, you have to use "irecovery -n"

[Discussion] Another success story, I was able to futurerestore an A13 device from iOS 13.5 to 14.3, I want to share my experience
At least in recent weeks for those on Windows, --latest-sep/baseband were apparently "broken for most devices" according to the developer and the developer recommended specifying the actual sep/baseband files.

[Discussion] Beware futurerestore can sometimes fail & force you to update to current iOS release
In an earlier year I had heard that it was safer to specify them. Additionally, in recent weeks, depending on your platform, --latest-sep/baseband was broken: https://github.com/opa334/futurerestore/releases/
