Cantrill's labs played an instrumental part in learning and passing the exam (https://github.com/acantril/learn-cantrill-io-labs). They not only allowed me to get my hands dirty building cool projects in the AWS environment, but also gave me something to show on my github to prove my abilities to future recruiters. This practical experience solidified my understanding of the theoretical concepts I was reading about in the AWS documentation.

I would try to find an application that you use that may have a container option for deployment, and try hosting it yourself in aws. One that I recently set up is this project that just makes a nicer front end for Spotify: https://github.com/Selbi182/SpotifyBigPicture. I host mine in an ECS cluster, and with that, you expose yourself to a couple different concepts in AWS. Containers, VPC networking, DNS, potentially things like autoscaling and container insights. There are a lot of other applications you could use, that might even let you get into things like API gateway and databases.

I have multiple monitors on my desk at work, and the current fullscreen mode in the official Spotify client is garbage. If I'm listening to 90s music, the last thing I want to see is what these bands look like now. I almost gave up on fullscreen mode when I found Spotify Big Picture. It's exactly what I was looking for in a fullscreen- mode. I've been using it for months and it works perfectly. With the recent updates, it's also super customizable to have exactly the information you're looking for.

For now, my main goal is to convert this massive 2.7k-lines file of vanilla JS into something more reasonable. Splitting it into multiple modules and also rewriting it as TypeScript.
