Snapcast is awesome, especially when bundled together with Iris and Mopidy [1], which included links to Youtube, Soundcloud, Funkwhale, podcasts, streams (etc). I wrote a blog post on how to build a small Raspi Zero Image for Snapcast [2] that directly connects to the Snapserver included in (e.g.) the Iris Docker [3]. I added a modified Docker Image for Iris that includes the Funkwhale extension here [4]. Works flawlessly since 2 years, almost zero maintenance and great music experience. My synchronized Snapcast extents through several rooms and two houses (120km apart), through IPSEC with a very small bandwidth (5000kbit up). Many thanks to all the maintainers of this stunning stack of OSS.

Shameless plug: I did something similar 6 years ago and created sonos-web. Sadly I stopped working on the project, but it was indeed cool to play Youtube videos on your Sonos device (among other things).

Sonos-Kids-Controller
Software for self made touchscreen jukeboxes for kids. Supports Spotify streaming and uses Sonos for audio output.
My issue: I am currently looking for a case holding a 5-inch Waveshare touchscreen (those are common and are great value for the money: info and measurements under https://www.waveshare.com/5inch-dsi-lcd.htm) and a raspberry pi 3 to realize this Sonos Controller for kids (an awesome project for kids to play audiobooks from Spotify that does not require to have a phone or tablet: https://github.com/Thyraz/Sonos-Kids-Controller). I would like to 3d print it as past experience with the Phoniebox (another awesome project which allows escaping the high-priced Tonies from the Toniebox: https://github.com/MiczFlor/RPi-Jukebox-RFID) lets me expect to have to make more of those for the kids' friends.
