I like Sabaki, but there's also GoWrite, CGoban (the KGS client), and others (search for "SGF editor"). You can also review .sgf with OGS online, or with AI Sensei. KaTrain is a very good AI client that can review .sgf as well.

I run KaTrain on my older Intel Mac with no issues. The OS is older, 12.6.3 (Monterey). I use the KaTrainOSX.dmg released by the KaTrain project. How did you install KaTrain?

If you have a good computer you can run katago locally using something like katrain which makes installing it simpler and comes with options like controlling katago's strength.

If you are set on using Sabaki specifically I can't offer much advice since I don't have much experience with it, but what I can say is that I personally use Katrain to run Katago and I highly recommend it. If you want to try it out, you can just go here for the latest version as of today. Just scroll to the bottom and download "katrain.exe". It has many many very useful features - and of course will always evaluate the move that was actually played.

That's nuts. I'll be honest online-go.com is my least favorite server to play on. Unfortunately it's one of the only ones that doesn't require software installation so it's easy to recommend to new players.

In 2016, I thought I'd give up on playing Go, seeing that our tree searching overlords beat us in every which way. Funny thing is, I'm playing a game right now [1].

https://online-go.com/ is the most popular English server, called OGS. It's pretty good.

OGS is open source, anyone can contribute to their github repository and it's in need of developers - almost 200 open issues. It's likely easier to gain traction and more beneficial to the go community compared to starting from scratch.

OGS probably has the largest pool of English-speaking beginners. https://online-go.com/ It's a web app, so it's very easy to get signed up and playing.

Also, I'd suggest trying to switch to human players pretty soon (online-go.com is the place to be for that), AIs and weak AIs will play with a lot of strange and bad moves, and playing against too many of them might give you bad habits.
