  • What's you favorite version of tetris to play on pc?

I personally love tetr.io, but what do you guys recommend?
  • Lit-up.io is live
    1 project | /r/Tetris | 8 Dec 2023
I could, of course put garbage at the bottom, and have the player get rid of it by a wise move, but this isn't the game design we were going for, and, I re-iterate, copying 100% what others do is not what we're here for. Tetr.io is great, but don't want to clone other platforms gameplay.
  • Tetris helping against obsessive thoughts
    1 project | /r/OCD | 7 Dec 2023
YES!!!!! I was diagnosed with OCD this year, and I discovered tetr.io in the summer. I haven't stopped playing since. I have 200+ hours in the game and I'm almost level 800. It helps so much with intrusive thoughts!! Never would've thought that someone would have the same experience as me.
  • ads blocking playing screen on tetr.io
    1 project | /r/Tetris | 18 Nov 2023
Sorry if this is a stupid question. Just today, I've been noticing more disruptive ads on tetr.io that are blocking part of the playing area. Usually they just stay at the bottom of the screen, no big deal. But a couple of times today, the ad was bigger and moving around and covering part of the playing area. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?
  • Stuck in S rank, please give tips
    1 project | /r/Tetris | 17 Nov 2023
So I've been stuck in S rank (in tetr.io) for a while now and am not seeing that much improvement. How can I get better at the game (username is SIREMELON if that helps)?
  • Quandino - I didn't love the available "falling block" games for Playdate so I made my own
    1 project | /r/PlaydateConsole | 10 Nov 2023
After trying out Rainblocks and Playtris/Blockdate (as well as contributing to Blockdate). I found that they didn't give me the experience I wanted coming from tetr.io (PC Tetris clone).

    1 project | /r/LongDistance | 4 Jul 2023
These aren't progress-based but: tetr.io because tetris is fun. you can also play lots of board games on Tabletop Simulator. My bf and I play Overwatch 2 the most as our bonding videogame (we finish everything else lol).

  • Ask HN: What do you use for note-taking or as knowledge base?
    5 projects | news.ycombinator.com | 1 Jan 2024
I keep absolutely everything in a single folder. Saved documents, images, movies, financial records, game saves, it doesn't matter. My hierarchical naming scheme takes care of organization. On the odd occasion I actually need a folder, I just append ".d" to the filename.

I use . as a hierarchy delimiter, so file extensions are just part of the hierarchy, and I can have multiple files with the same name except for the extension. For example, "film.spongebob.png" is a photo of spongebob, "film.spongebob.org" is a note about spongebob, and "film.spongebob.s1.e7" is my favorite episode.

I use org-roam [1] for note-taking and task/time-management. I absolutely require a plain-text system so it either had to be markdown or org-mode. Emacs was the deciding factor, else I would have still been using Dendron [2]

If OneNote is your thing, I'd probably recommend Obsidian [3] over org-roam. Despite it being the greatest program ever created, Emacs is a lot to learn "just" for taking notes.

If you like VS Code, check out Dendron. It's the one that got me into more serious PKMS instead of just chucking notes in a folder all willy nilly.

  • Org-roam: find "linkable" text in node
    2 projects | /r/emacs | 6 Dec 2023
I'm using org-roam to keep my notes, which generally works well for me. There's one thing I am missing and I'm wondering if I just overlooked it, or whether it simply doesn't exist.

  • Bi-directional links in org mode?
    2 projects | /r/emacs | 7 Jul 2023
Org-Roam is a Roam-inspired Emacs mode that builds on top of org mode. Every node (aka note) has a unique ID that's different from its name. Every link from node A to node B actually links to the ID, so you can change node B's name without affecting the link. When you're on node B, you can open the Roam buffer and it will show you all of the links that point to that node.

Org Mode. I can export my notes to LaTeX or HTML and keep things tidy in a zettelkasten with org-roam.
  • What should I use to take notes in college?
    13 projects | /r/archlinux | 23 Jun 2023
Of course, the real power-user move would be to use Emacs with Org-Roam, but you have to be prepared to dive deep into the rabbit-hole. If you don't, it won't be worth it. If you do, you'll be handsomely rewarded. I know because I have, and I can highly recommend it if you like tinkering with and customising your tools. IMO, Doom Emacs is the way to go nowadays.
  • Has anyone here with ADHD or similar issues used org-mode to get your life on track?
    1 project | /r/orgmode | 5 Jun 2023
I'd highly recommend Org-roam. It's what has enabled me to actually start consistently keeping notes (and being able to retrieve/access them later). It's very easy with Org-roam to quickly add new notes, or add information to old notes, and the links/backlinks make (re)discoverability very easy.
