Supercharge your Org daily/weekly agenda by grouping items

Project mention: Using Neovim and Org-mode to Pass my College classes! | reddit.com/r/neovim | 2022-05-09

Last last time I've checked out Orgmode.nvim it didn't seem to allow for much customizing of the agenda that org-super-agenda and org-ql provides which is probably the only reason I still use org-mode in Emacs.

  • org-ql

An Org-mode query language, including search commands and saved views

    Project mention: Query Datetree Entries | reddit.com/r/orgmode | 2022-08-08

Project mention: pdf tool that will take my highlighted text and automaticall turn it into a list of moveable bullet points | reddit.com/r/PKMS | 2022-07-14

I use org-noter for emacs to do something similar to what you are wanting. But emacs isn’t for the faint hearted so probably not the best choice.

  • ox-hugo

A carefully crafted Org exporter back-end for Hugo

Project mention: Emacs freezing on org file save on M1 mac | reddit.com/r/emacs | 2022-07-19

I think the issue is related to the recent version of Org mode. This discussion in ox-hugo gave some good pointers: https://github.com/kaushalmodi/ox-hugo/discussions/551 . Rolling org-mode back to 9.4.6 seems to solve the problem. Anyone else facing this issue and have other suggestions?

  • anki-editor

Emacs minor mode for making Anki cards with Org

Project mention: Doing cards outside of Anki apps? | reddit.com/r/Anki | 2022-07-16

Sure. I write my cards in Emacs' Org mode and specifically the louietan/anki-editor minor mode. Org mode is a markup file format like markdown (but superior IMHO as it is more intuitive). With anki-editor I can export my plaintext cards to HTML by Org-mode’s HTML export backend (it has many others) with specific markers (e.g. latex) translated to Anki style. I do this with Anki open and the Anki-Connect plugin installed. It is this plugin that allows the anki-editor to push the cards to Anki. Within Anki I use the provided sync function to sync my cards with my phone. I only ever edit the cards via Emacs as anki-editor only pushes to Anki it does not pull from it.

  • org-rifle

Rifle through your Org-mode buffers and acquire your target

Project mention: In multi-section Org Mode documents, do you use one top-level heading, or several? | reddit.com/r/emacs | 2021-11-07

alphapapa has a project for a Emacs setup oriented for big org-mode files (alphaorg) also useful is his org-rifle. I use these additions.

  • org-roam-bibtex

Org Roam integration with bibliography management software

Project mention: Starting my PhD and keeping my lab notebook in org-mode! | reddit.com/r/emacs | 2022-07-13

I think you should also look org-roam and org-roam-bibtex (I can't configure org-roam-bibtex properly because I'm on Windows).

  • notebook-mode

    GNU Emacs notebook mode

Project mention: Do you like org-level-1, org-level-2, etc. all different colors, or everything the same color (like black on white, etc.), or something between? | reddit.com/r/emacs | 2022-03-09

You might also find inspiration from Nicolas Rougier's org mode setup: https://github.com/rougier/notebook-mode and https://github.com/rougier/org-bib-mode have screenshots which show very little color put on headlines.

  • org-superstar-mode

Make org-mode stars a little more super

Project mention: org-mode writes to disc too often causing prompt to lag 1-2 s | reddit.com/r/emacs | 2022-01-21
  • mu4e-dashboard

A dashboard for mu4e (mu for emacs)

    Project mention: Sticky frame sidebar (N Λ N O) | reddit.com/r/emacs | 2021-08-30

Sidebar is a child frame that is displayed on the left side of a regular frame and can be used to display any kind of information. In the screenshot above, it displays a mue4e dashboard (https://github.com/rougier/mu4e-dashboard) . I did not find how to have per-frame theme and I ended up exploiting the dark/light mode frame settings and theme will adapt (if it includes the two modes). Here, the theme here is nano-theme (https://github.com/rougier/nano-theme) and the sidebar uses the dark version.

  • zetteldeft

A Zettelkasten system! Or rather, some functions on top of the emacs deft package.

Project mention: Why not use Obsidian and/or Logseq instead of OrgRoam? | reddit.com/r/OrgRoam | 2022-05-18

What functionality are you looking for? “Knowledge Management” is extremely broad. Org and/or orgroam is probably what most people use for knowledge management. There’s also https://github.com/ymherklotz/emacs-zettelkasten or https://github.com/EFLS/zetteldeft

  • org-tree-slide

A presentation tool for org-mode based on the visibility of outline trees

Project mention: Slides: Terminal based Markdown presentation tool | news.ycombinator.com | 2021-11-03

  • evil-org-mode

Supplemental evil-mode keybindings to emacs org-mode

Project mention: About to declare Emacs bankruptcy. Any advice for cool or new packages, defaults, or ideas I should use before I start building my init.el? Also interested in guides to using evil. | reddit.com/r/emacs | 2022-08-11

I see that evil-collection says it provides minimal org support. It apparently integrates with org-evil and evil-org, but it's not clear to me if there's substantial differences between them.

  • verb

Organize and send HTTP requests from Emacs

Project mention: How to use Tiddlywiki via REST API in Emacs | reddit.com/r/emacs | 2022-07-14

Looks also interesting, but it doesn't fit my use cases: I need custom functions to grab values/data from other sources (e.g. pocket-reader.el).restclient` is more about having pre-defined HTTP requests (path, headers, payload etc.) in a buffer and a major mode for executing the requests. Pretty much the same what verb offers.

    Project mention: org-babel, problems with ob-async | reddit.com/r/emacs | 2022-06-02

  • org-fragtog

Automatically toggle Org mode LaTeX fragment previews as the cursor enters and exits them

Project mention: Preview LaTeX equations on *.tex files | reddit.com/r/emacs | 2022-05-01

I mean, what I'm looking for is something like this but while I am editing an *.tex file. I have tried the texfrag package, but it doesn't seem to work or I'm too stupid to set it up. Can someone explain to me how can this be achieved?

    Embedded drawing tool for Emacs

Project mention: I am kinda surprised there is not a huge FOSS competitor in the PDF "Annotation" field | reddit.com/r/linux | 2021-10-27

And with org-noter one can easily interface with org-mode, and then maybe some more.

  • citar

Emacs package to quickly find and act on bibliographic references, and edit org, markdown, and latex academic documents.

    Project mention: Citar 1.0, citar-org-roam, Doom biblio update | reddit.com/r/emacs | 2022-08-09

Just an FYI that we've tagged v1.0, which is us concluding that Citar is basically feature-complete, and we're comfortable with the API and keeping it more stable (sorry for the recent breaking changes!).
