Brainstorm? RGB smart bulbs controlled by Lutron Caseta no-neutral dimmer?
HA has a custom integration for Spengler, but looks like the color and brightness functionality was removed. (https://github.com/jfarmer08/ha-sengledapi). I installed it and found it only controlled ON/OFF. But agree - would be better to do this entirely locally via HA Instead of having to go through a HA-to-Alexa Integration.

Can you use a zigbee button to control a wifi bulb?
If you're using the Sengled wifi bulbs, I'd say yes. It looks like someone created an extension to control them through an unofficial API

Secure Pet Camera
Sounds like a good solution that would work. I also have an ASUS router and would suggest using this instead of the built in Asus integration, this one is far superior (welcome to the next stage of the rabbit hole).
