From a product perspective Grafbase offers a serverless, realtime GraphQL API deployed at the edge. Our goal is to provide a unified data layer on top of existing APIs and databases.

The Grafbase platform itself is built in Rust and deployed to the edge using WebAssembly. Every GraphQL endpoint is deployed to V8 isolates at the edge which translates to very low cold starts and extremely fast performance globally.

Our branching feature makes collaboration seamless with your team. Just created a Git branch and push it up to create an instant preview branch that is totally isolated from production.

We are Grafbase are making backends easy. Using the CLI, you can use the entire platform (including live queries) locally.

Grafbase was built to manage all of the above. You get a distributed GraphQL API at the edge by creating a single grafbase/schema.graphql file in your project.

The Grafbase CLI is written in Rust and open-sourced on GitHub.

NextAuth.js is not perfect. One of the shortcomings is that it currently does not implement federated logout. This means that even if a user signs out of the Next.js app, he does NOT get signed out of the Cognito user pool client. As a consequence, the user is not really being logged out (i.e he is able to login again without providing the credentials). You can read more about this problem in this Github thread.

NextAuth for adding auth

I mentioned this in an age-old discussion on NextAuth GitHub repo.

Authentication is a fundamental part of most web applications. Integrating authentication into your Next.js app can be simplified with NextAuth, a powerful authentication library that supports various authentication methods. However, the documentation around setting up NextAuth with the "Credentials" auth provider might not be as clear as you'd hope. My implementation is greatly enriched and partially based on Next-Auth docs and the following github thread.
