  • wundergraph

WunderGraph is a Backend for Frontend Framework to optimize frontend, fullstack and backend developer workflows through API Composition.

  • WunderGraph founder here. In case you don't know us, here's a link: https://wundergraph.com or GitHub https://github.com/wundergraph/wundergraph.

There are many architectural differences, but most importantly WunderGraph is Open Source (Apache 2.0 & MIT) and can run anywhere. It's a simple docker container. We're local first, and you can run WG offline.

Our focus is really enterprise API Integration. Most of our customers are small to large teams that have to integrate a lot of REST & GraphQL APIs. We could have never built such a vibrant open source community if you couldn't run WG in a private network.

Another big difference is configuration. A few years ago I did some experiments to configure the predecessor of WunderGraph using just GraphQL syntax. I think GraphQL is great, but ultimately has limitations in terms of what it's good for. After these experiments, we've decided to have all configuration in TypeScript and never looked back.

That said, I'd like to congratulate Grafbase to the public beta. I think Grafbase and WunderGraph can actually work together nicely. As Grafbase exposes a GraphQL API, you can easily plug that into WG and get the best of both tools.

Ultimately, it's great so see more and more solutions in the GraphQL segment. We need to make GraphQL & APIs easier and more accessible. Competition will force everyone to improve and push the boundaries. For a very long time, there were very limited options in this market. It's getting much better these days. The big winner will be the user who gets to chose better options.

    The future of APIs

  • Founder of Grafbase here.

From a product perspective Grafbase offers a serverless, realtime GraphQL API deployed at the edge. Our goal is to provide a unified data layer on top of existing APIs and databases.

The Grafbase platform itself is built in Rust and deployed to the edge using WebAssembly. Every GraphQL endpoint is deployed to V8 isolates at the edge which translates to very low cold starts and extremely fast performance globally.

Our branching feature makes collaboration seamless with your team. Just created a Git branch and push it up to create an instant preview branch that is totally isolated from production.

The Grafbase CLI is open source and available on GitHub: https://github.com/grafbase/grafbase.
