Just use Fosscord
Discord support is ignoring requests for appeals
2 projects | reddit.com/r/discordapp | 17 Apr 2022
- Fosscord, something thats trying to replicate Discord, open source (their client as of now is just Discord, I recommend) - Matrix, a decentralized federated chat network. - Guilded, owned by Roblox (known for horrendous moderation and support) but overall a good platform. - Telegram, requires a phone number (but takes VOIP), I've used it before. Definite hub for gore/scams but as long as you know what to avoid, it's alright
Does anyone know any good alternatives to Discord?

In case the Discord servers are censored, then the Fosscord, a WIP decentralised clone of Discord with backwards compatibility to the latter, can be used as a backup along with Matrix.

FYI: Avoid the "Discord Linux" server

I believe you can do it with Fosscord but from my understanding it's not ready yet.
What do you wish you could self-host?

Statistics | Flathub

I was gonna install it from Flathub but was put off because it's not officially packaged by the company. Then read this issue and decided it's probably better that someone else publishes it, maybe your performance issues were the app scanning your process tree or something like that: https://github.com/flathub/com.discordapp.Discord/issues/99
Discord Flatpak failing to launch
1 project | reddit.com/r/flatpak | 24 Mar 2022
This seems to me like an update could've broken it. Check if downgrading to an older version fixes it for you. Even if it doesn't, I think you should report the issue on the GitHub repository for Discord Flatpak anyway.
Is flatpak really the future?
11 projects | reddit.com/r/linux | 21 Mar 2022
You don't need to when using the Flatpak, it already comes with a custom script to launch it with those flags. It also disables update checks so the user isn't locked out from the app
Migrating from Pop!_OS to Fedora - a couple of questions.
1 project | reddit.com/r/linuxmasterrace | 20 Mar 2022
Discord is available as both a native app via RpmFusion (see here for guide) or as a flatpak or as an appimage.

How to get Discord 0.0.17
2 projects | reddit.com/r/archlinux | 17 Feb 2022
u/cheeseDickies i recommend using flatpak to install discord because not only are they quick at updating discord they change a hidden setting in discord's config file that disables the update prompt so when there is an update that can't be done by discord automatically it will continue to let you use the app until it is updated. (see: https://github.com/flathub/com.discordapp.Discord)
