And fennec was the 'internal' name for firefox on android from mozilla.

I use a fork called Fennec which is Firefox stable with the proprietary bits removed. Also Mull is a great fork, which is Firefox Stable with most of the privacy enhanced features from arkenfox js which enables things like fingerprint resistance. This causes a lot more breakage though, so recommend to use it as a secondary browser. Both are available on fdroid, neither requiring Google Play.

I would not use mull browser. I haven't gotten around in making a PSA. But the source code comes from 1 person in Russia. this is source code of mull, and the pg states its a fork of relan and if you click on relan's name you will see he is based in Russia. So one person is responsible for mull and another person is responsible for the back end. During this time of genocide of the Ukrainian people its my choice to not support anything with the word Russia. Each to their own.

It looks like this is the german language version of Firefox Focus. If you like firefox you should check out Mull. It is essentially a fennecbuild (DeBlobbed Firefox) that has been hardenned and contains upstream patches from the Tor Uplift Project.

I use https://github.com/fork-maintainers/iceraven-browser for its ability to install any extension, including https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bypass_Paywalls_Clean. If you don't need that, I'd recommend IronFox because of its explicit security goals.

For Android, I use Iceraven, a Firefox fork built with Firefox stable's code that adds more options, features, customizations, and extensions than Firefox for Android has. So I won't have to switch from that even when the Chromium based browsers potentially all adopt Mv3 fully and drop Mv2, because I've already got a browser on that platform which hopefully will be immune that I'm already using not because of what may happen in the future, but because it's my favorite browser.

Iceraven has an extension available called "Video Background Play Fix" that does what you describe.

It should be noted that Iceraven is not compiled from source, ie. it only compiles the UI/app layer, and not the engine or other components.

Kiwi Browser and Ungoogled Chromium for Android support chrome extensions on mobile. Firefox supports some extensions. Firefox Nightly (warning, unstable) supports even more. Firefox forks like Iceraven, Fennec, and Mull also support extensions. All of these guys support uBlock Origin.
