TheOldNet wifi modem PPP issues
Unfortunately there seems to be very little documentation on the PPP mode of the module you got. So I don't know if there are settings to tune in there. I used Zimodem and 8266 Wifi Modem firmware which I would have suggested maybe trying on your hardware except it looks like they don't have PPP support. There doesn't seem to be another ESP8266-based PPP solution that I can find, although there is this that may let you try SLIP. It's not entirely ideal since you lose the rest of the modem functionality but it might be an interesting test at least. Annoyingly there seems to be PPP support for various 8266 firmwares but only a couple that expose it in remotely friendly ways like TON module does.

finally tried out my simulant retro wifi SI any other funcationality
So perhaps you can consider reflashing your device to use https://github.com/martin-ger/esp_slip_router and then you may be able to get online with a TCP stack running SLIP. My adventures with the TF330 WiFi and being able to get on the internet are described on the AmigaRetro Forum might help step through what you need to do on the amiga side for this (hint it took a little bit of effort to get there and it's very slow going to modern sites but if you wanted to download stuff off your NAS or cruise Aminet its probably okay)

Wifi repeater Esp-01 - no internet
I'm trying to set up a wifi repeater using the binaries from https://github.com/martin-ger/esp_wifi_repeater. Flashing the software goes fine. Connects to internet fine. I set up the AP with a new name and password. Connecting to it seems fine but then it shows as connected, no internet. Any ideas?

Wrapping trees in backyard?
I've never done an outdoor project but you'll need some waterproof strips and a sealed container for the mcu. You can buy waterproof strips in different led densities and styles from btf lighting in amazon and aliexpress, they are completely enclosed in a flexible plastic pipe (or hose?). Be careful with your maximum brightness since the leds can't dissipate as much heat. If they stay on during daylight you might lose many pixels. For the mcu I would use a small food container to which you can add extra waterproofing. If you need extra wifi range you can use an esp 8266 with this code on it https://github.com/martin-ger/esp_wifi_repeater

ESP8266 WiFi range extender Arduino
My mum has a portable WiFi device which is most time in her room, so the WiFi doesn't get to the living room and that's a problem but I love to solve problems so i did some googling and I found a GitHub repository for an ESP8266 repeater by martin-ger,the repo had a binary file for the repeater so I just flashed it into my esp8266 using esptool and it worked like magic. Click here to access the repository; however, there were some problems I had with this repeater(extender):
