discord bot coding
I can confirm, Eris still around and kicking. And BTW has a great community too. Therefore, even I prefer Eris, the Python implementations for Discord bots are not dead either.
-
is discord.py dead?
Pretty sure isn't dying. Therefore, in matter of resources used and speed, I prefer to go with Eris who is a solid one and then work with NodeJS.

Make a Discord Bot with Eris
Hello there, this sentence will mark the beginning of my first ever article released to the public. In this article, I will be writing how to build a Discord bot with Eris and Yuuko.

April 17th Update - Mostly Backend
First, our discord api library. For 3 of the last 4 years we've ran using Eris (https://github.com/abalabahaha/eris). However, we've been running on a modified version last updated in June 2019. This forced us to do a lot of newer stuff (for example replies) without the api library, and things got hacky and were often buggy. We have now updated this to latest, with our modified changes.

Found a way to create a tooltip in discord
Eris and Discord.js are both wrappers for the Discord API for JavaScript. Both are very similar. Here is the Eris repo: Eris Repo. As you can see, the basic structure is very similar. From what I see, the Discord.js library is more updated, but not necessarily more supported. Either way, it comes down to personal opinion.

Note the video is 2 years old. Discord.JS is constantly changing alongside the Discord API. This is why you should follow official and up to date guides and not just copy paste off of youtube: https://discord.js.org/
-

How much knowledge in coding do i need to be able to create own discord bots?
Well, I recommend you JavaScript, it is good for beginners and there's a lot of content on internet. Once you understand and practice the basics, you can use discord.js to write your bots. They have a guide website if you are interested.

Bot to send messages/auto messages as another user? For an RP server.
You can (with some effort) create your own bot using a library like Discord.js to use webhooks easier.
-
Version
I want to dive into discord bot things but I was confused when I saw 2 sites of discordjs. There is https://discord.js.org/ and https://old.discordjs.dev/#/. Is the old one is no more supported? Which one to use? I couldn't understand the difference between them.
- Could you please suggest some Next.js project source codes, preferably v12 or fewer, that I can use to learn from?
