discord bot coding
I can confirm, Eris still around and kicking. And BTW has a great community too. Therefore, even I prefer Eris, the Python implementations for Discord bots are not dead either.
-
is discord.py dead?
Pretty sure isn't dying. Therefore, in matter of resources used and speed, I prefer to go with Eris who is a solid one and then work with NodeJS.

What is the recommended programing language for building discord bots?

Make a Discord Bot with Eris
Hello there, this sentence will mark the beginning of my first ever article released to the public. In this article, I will be writing how to build a Discord bot with Eris and Yuuko.

April 17th Update - Mostly Backend
First, our discord api library. For 3 of the last 4 years we've ran using Eris (https://github.com/abalabahaha/eris). However, we've been running on a modified version last updated in June 2019. This forced us to do a lot of newer stuff (for example replies) without the api library, and things got hacky and were often buggy. We have now updated this to latest, with our modified changes.

Found a way to create a tooltip in discord
Eris and Discord.js are both wrappers for the Discord API for JavaScript. Both are very similar. Here is the Eris repo: Eris Repo. As you can see, the basic structure is very similar. From what I see, the Discord.js library is more updated, but not necessarily more supported. Either way, it comes down to personal opinion.

- I have been reporting a bug since 2021 about Discord corrupting a non-Latin script in their backend, but Discord does not seem to care. In 2021 they even asked me to change DNS, ghosted for months, and later closed the ticket!

Discord permission update?
Just like how denying View Channel prevents someone from sending messages in that channel, denying Connect implicitly denies the other permissions. I don't think this behaviour is new - it looks like it was documented a year ago

Cloudflare Workers Introduces Connect() API to Create TCP Sockets
WS = WebSocket? I think integrating with the Discord API would've been one use case until they added the slash commands & webhooks.
But looks like Discord Gateway blocks CF Workers: https://github.com/discord/discord-api-docs/issues/6145#issu...

This should have been a thing from the start
Kinda sort of, only if it's used in the first line of a message. You can not match multiline with (?m) because of a bug in Discord's regex implementation: https://github.com/discord/discord-api-docs/issues/6094
-
Why is there no "use markdown" permission?
It's usually possible to match that too using (?m), but Discord's regex implementation has a confirmed bug with it's newline implementation, so it currently doesn't work: https://github.com/discord/discord-api-docs/issues/6094

Markdown links in embeds are not rendered correctly when they contain... a number?
A bug
