  • Discord Paygating Chess? lol

Which law? How come only Discord seems to be prohibited by law from implementing end to end encryption, when many other companies are legally able to? Someone looked into it back in 2020 and showed that it wasn't end to end encrypted; the developer documentation does not show voice as being end-to-end encrypted, even looking at it back in 2016 it wasn't e2ee either.
  • Build a Discord Bot with Python
    3 projects | dev.to | 1 Sep 2022
The complicated part about writing this program is how we're going to interact with the Discord API. While we can read the API documentation and send HTTP requests directly to Discord, we have an easier way.
  • Slash Commands are Unnecessary and Annoying
    3 projects | reddit.com/r/discordapp | 28 Aug 2022
Also, slash commands do have a file input option and have done for months., it's option type 11, ATTACHMENT.

Not for long. Discord are going to enforce the message content intent soon (like a couple days), which will mean verified bots literally will not be able to read message content unless they have the intent, and prefix-based commands is not a good enough reason to get it. The only way bots without the intent will be able to use the old prefix commands is if they make users @mention the bot in the message (since there's clear user intent for the bot to see the message, the content will be sent to the bot; same with DMs)
    3 projects | reddit.com/r/discordapp | 28 Aug 2022
The message content intent was announced over a year ago with the initial deadline being April 2022. That deadline was pushed back four months to September. There's been months and months of time for libraries and bots to update, not two days.

  • Bot using C
    2 projects | reddit.com/r/discordbots | 21 Feb 2022
this is pretty much the only valid answer. You'll have to implement the raw discord API calls yourself (https://discord.com/developers/docs/intro) by making HTTP-requests from C. There's probably existing libraries to manage your HTTP-requests.
