I have had a similar situation. What solved it for me was drivers. I just wish I knew what one triggered the share request to function again. I am aware that before DROBO went dark, there was a mention of a shift/update Microsoft made to one of their communication drivers. The totally weird way I fixed it was to reinstall a couple of steam games. I must have updated something in my dot.net or another DLL

You download the .NET SDK from https://dot.net or your distro's repositories and install it. You get yourself an IDE (Rider, you need to pay but it's worth it) or editor (VSCode or VSCodium are quite good) and just start programming. Just think of it like any other language like Python or Java, where everything works everywhere except the system-dependent stuff.

As far as Uno Platform goes, one can use components from WinUI and Windows Community Toolkit (WCT); so you have hundreds of UI components to work with out of the box, including some must-haves like Data Grid in WCT. I do agree this 3rd party ecosystem eventually needs to get more love from bigger vendors, or other new ones will also step in - i.e. Live Charts has support for Uno Platform https://github.com/beto-rodriguez/LiveCharts2 or MapsUI https://mapsui.com/documentation/getting-started-uno.html

It is beta now, but should be ready for production soon, The library will also provide multiple ready-to-go themes and a high-performance package.
