If you are fishing for something weirder, but still Topre, the Dometyl is a Dactyl offshoot that uses rubreh domehs and sliders. I have not tried it myself.

You could use domes. https://github.com/geoffder/dometyl-keyboard/ offers some technical advice and links to some products. Complex, and also expensive.

Try "skeletal" designs such as those from bastardkb.com or one generated from dometyl.

Firstly, please consider a Skeletyl instead of a conventional Dactyl. Skeletyl has a lot less material and so is a lot faster to print. If you need more than 5x3+3 keys, you can customize your own Skeletyl style case as well: https://github.com/geoffder/dometyl-keyboard

I am using https://github.com/Bastardkb/Charybdis/tree/main/files/mods/tenting-stand-with-wrist-pads With the Gelpads from Ali. And are quite happy with them. Interestingly do they change after a while and don’t snap to each others, but that’s not a problem.

I started my split journey by building a dactyl manuform with amoeba king pcbs. Now I use a charybdis nano because it has an integrated trackball :D

I use a Bastard Keyboard Charybdis Nano. It's an ergo 3x5 keyboard with built in trackball. I built it myself but you can get them pre built too.

Most of my free time is spent researching and engineering for various open source projects. I also enjoy building custom keyboards, right now I'm rocking a Bastard Keyboards Charybdis that I hand built myself. Fun facts: I'm left handed and used to train and ride horses competitively.
