Is connecting Django to MS SQL too much of a bad idea?
Now that the driver is supported by MS themselves ( which is here ) - it's easy street. Heck, even when it wasn't "officially supported", it still worked.

Tuesday Daily Thread: Advanced questions
Use asyncio lib for mysql, for example – aiomysql

python asyncio, how to prevent the other functions "block" themselves when connecting to db?
No, as I said, async db connection is the key. You can do that with SQLAlchemy using the databases library, but since you are not using SQLAlchemy it makes more sense to use the underlying db driver, aiomysql, directly.
- data pushed incorrectly from DB when function called from several clients
What are some alternatives?
When comparing django-mysql and aiomysql you can also consider the following projects:
cookiecutter-django-mysql - Cookiecutter Django is a framework for jumpstarting production-ready Django projects quickly.
asyncmy - A fast asyncio MySQL/MariaDB driver with replication protocol support
mqtt2sql - Copy MQTT topic payloads to MySQL/SQLite database
databases - Async database support for Python. 🗄

Tornado-SQLAlchemy - SQLAlchemy support for Tornado
mssql-django - The Microsoft Django backend for SQL Server provides a connectivity layer for Django on SQL Server or Azure SQL DB.
