  • Why Is A GOTV Demo More Accurate Than A POV Demo?
    2 projects | /r/GlobalOffensive | 12 Oct 2021
Thank you for your help! And a little background if helpful: In parallel with analyzing CSGO demos, I've also been working on analytics running live in an open-source engine from NVidia designed for measuring player reaction times: my few changes to their codebase, their paper. Using their engine rather than CSGO may be more accurate as I (1) in theory can grab the results directly from the GPU's pixel shader output rather than off screen and (2) am measuring the live gameplay rather than a replay from a demo. (Note: My changes to FPSci so far have focused on CPU analytics, but I could do GPU analytics since I have the source code). The downside of using FPSci is that the player behavior is not as rich. FPSci doesn't have a competitive meta. CSGO player demos are a rich source of information since there's so many hours of it and players have spent so much time understanding CSGO, there's a lot than can be learned only from their behavior.
