Hello, dev.to!
My main passion right now is working with the ComputerCraft mod for Minecraft, which adds a flexible Lua-based fantasy terminal to the game. I'm most known for CraftOS-PC, a cross-platform desktop and mobile C++ app which recreates the ComputerCraft environment outside Minecraft. I'm currently working on writing an operating system for it called Phoenix, which aims to implement a full-fledged POSIX/Linux-like environment all in Lua.

How to generate a frequency based sound (like 750Hz in 4 seconds) in Lua?
Finally, (self plug) I make a Lua terminal program, CraftOS-PC, that has an API for audio playback built-in, as well as a very robust library for audio loading, generation, modification & playback, and even a sound generator plugin to handle tones for you, so if all you want to do is play around with learning how low-level audio generation and mixing works, I highly recommend it - working on this stuff taught me everything I've learned about the mechanics of sound.

Ask HN: What side projects landed you a job?
I have only worked for two companies so far. I got both jobs through my side projects. The first job was my apprenticeship. The second was with a Swiss sensor developer.
[0] The first was a Minecraft server software with a web interface similar to an operating system. Players could log in, upload items, xp and trade etc.
[1] The second was a note-taking app similar to Obsidian, but completely real-time, based on a CRDT (yjs)
