Algorand PPoS: Solutions to increasing the decentralization of participation nodes
According to the Algorand MainNet metrics (https://metrics.algorand.org/), there are currently 1130 nodes in total and 330 voting participation nodes. The current PPoS gini index, which is a measure of the financial inequality of the participating nodes, is currently at 0.89 (https://github.com/cusma/pposdex). For comparison, South Africa which is the least equal country on Earth has a gini index of 0.63. The concern regarding this statistic is that the consensus of the Algorand MainNet is under majority control by a fairly small amount of nodes with large participating balances. I believe a solution to this is feasibly possible.
