Are third party clients against steam tos?
However, Steam has been long offering https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD (command line, no UI) as an alternative to normal Steam Client so you can install that (replaces the current) and add either https://github.com/dmadisetti/steam-tui or https://github.com/DioJoestar/SteamCMD-GUI that uses SteamCMD but offers a functional UI, the alternative you're seeking for.
-
The new Steam UI is and always has been a massive disappointment.
Lucky for you, https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD still works as the No-UI command line interface that's sole purpose is to act as a DRM-checking layer that is stripped from all the bloatware latest Steam Beta offers in the name of fancy. And if you combine that https://github.com/dmadisetti/steam-tui or https://github.com/DioJoestar/SteamCMD-GUI, you'll get yourself a still functional and manageable but not so good looking DIY Steam Client, totally legit.

Steam taking up 3gb of memory? Possible memory leak in the beta branch?
What can you do? Luckily so far https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD (Command Line UI) is still working for the lowest consumption and Players are fighting to keep it alive via Projects like https://github.com/DioJoestar/SteamCMD-GUI or https://github.com/dmadisetti/steam-tui but I'm pretty sure that stupid developer will also convince Gaben to get rid of them sooner or later.

I made a partially open-source alternative to the Steam Client
What about steam-tui https://github.com/dmadisetti/steam-tui
- Command line options do not work anymore (-silent, -no-browser)

Summary memory and CPU usage in modern game-DRM applications
GOG performs poorly because of its many Integrations hogging the resources & they're using Python as their language which is the main reason. Battlenet doesn't worth mentioning because they sell a dozen games, it's publisher store. Xbox client isn't great but LTSC is great as there are many negative posts about it on r/pcgaming. If you want performance, try Steam TUI + PlayNite, lightning fast.
-
Does -no-browser no longer work?
You may try https://github.com/dmadisetti/steam-tui but no guarantees because not all games work on SteamCMD.
-
Steam Client WebHelper memory leak
Solution? Almost none but fan made projects like https://github.com/dmadisetti/steam-tui that doesn't work for all game installs and running. Steam is sadly proving Newer isn't always the Better. So enjoy your RAM Monster that will eventually "force" you to buy new gear.

Need help getting Steam games to launch.
Have you tried steam-tui? disclosure: I am the author, and honestly I've had more luck through lutris.

Any Third-Party steam clients?
Some that I have found: - GameHub (Neat project, but does not support the usage of proton or wine for steam games - PlayNite (Only supports Windows at the moment, Linux support will come some time in the future) - steam-tui (A little too bare-bones for my taste)
What are some alternatives?
