canvas-student-data-export VS CanvasSync

There's a certain GitHub tool I'm trying to use to export data from an LMS and I have no experience with Python or programming whatsoever.

I graduated from college awhile ago and need to export all my files from Canvas (an LMS) ASAP before my account deactivates. There's a program that does exactly what I need it to do but it's on GitHub and I have no idea how to use it. I feel like pretty often I'll be searching for a program that can do a specific thing and when I find it, it's always on GitHub. I always have no idea on how to download it or use it unless it has a GUI. With applications like this one, do you have to have programming experience to understand how to use it? Or can a layperson learn how to use it pretty easily? And if so, how?

I graduated last May and still have access, but second the recommendation to save as much as you can if it's important to you. You can export your submissions and current course content from the settings page. You could also mess around with the Canvas API, and I see some people on GitHub have already written scrapers for Canvas courses using their API (example).

If that doesn’t work try canvas student data export which worked for me.

You can use CanvasSync to download the course material.

The program is called CanvasSync. As long as you're familiar with the terminal, it's super simple to setup. I was tired of hunting around the 10 different places on canvas to find a HW and this is so much simpler!
