Methodology for custom tuning a concave, column-staggered, split keyboard with thumb clusters (AKA Dactyl). Centered on an OpenSCAD library for designing all sorts of ortholinear-ish keyboards supporting a variety of keycaps including Cherry profile. This is my first custom keyboard and thought "how bad can hand wiring be." I've drastically underestimated the time requirement lol
I printed a hot swap compatible case from files generated using this repo from Wylder Builds. The sockets fit pretty well without glue, but not all are tight enough to never pop out. Depends on your print tolerances (mine are okayish).

Help with choosing part for my first dactyl manuform build
There's examples of dactyl manuform cases with trackball housing (example GitHub repo), though the circular display is going to be a design topic in itself. Most likely the display protrudes from the upper inner side of case slightly, like a sky scraper roof top Helipad 😋

Does a concave keyboard remove the need for finger splay?
the amount of the design space that's been explored is quite small, that's why i built the try-a-dactyl library to foster experimentation, rather than to produce a preconceived shape, with some tunable params.

my project also has an open case design but doesn't shrink the base plate in the same way. you could however modify it so that the struts aren't maintained at a 90° angle and achieve the same effect: https://github.com/wolfwood/tryadactyl
