Guidance about cross compilation tools, especially targeting musl
5 projects | reddit.com/r/rust | 4 Nov 2021
cargo-cross works well for me. A big upside is that I use the same tool to build for all the targets except the native one* . This lets me have consistent scripts to build all targets, like this one.

That’s what I do most of the time as well. I’ve been meaning to learn to use Broot better for this purpose too.

Any way to replace invoking commands with something other than :?
1 project | reddit.com/r/neovim | 24 Oct 2021
I recently started using broot and love how one invokes "verbs" with the spacebar. Much easier to type " q" rather than ":q."

Best way to search+copy/move a list of files in Thunar ? (catfish alternatives)
1 project | reddit.com/r/xfce | 31 May 2021
I haven't dug too far into it, but I've started to play around a bit with a tool called broot. It's a command line tool, kind of like a file manager / directory navigator with tools to search, move and copy files. Might be worth a look.
What are the differences between full-build and full-build-shared?
1 project | reddit.com/r/ffmpeg | 26 Nov 2021
Just as a side note, there may be exceptions at times. For example, at one point the rav1e encoder couldn't be built statically into FFmpeg due to a (compiler?) bug. Though I have no idea if this actually affected any providers of FFmpeg builds at the time, rare problems like this can happen.

AOM AV1 encoder/decoder in Debian needs update to enable AVIF saving
3 projects | reddit.com/r/debian | 19 Oct 2021
This issue could additionally be solved by packaging rav1e, which libavif can use for encoding. Getting it included in Debian is a goal of the project: https://github.com/xiph/rav1e/issues/886
[rav1e git] Scene detection improvement(better and more advanced scene detection all around at all speeds)
for resolution higher than 360p even 720x720 it get slower like on full hd it reached 0.88 fps on i3 330m and it's slow. speed 10 is the one i recommend, at constant quality 100, with notenoughav1encodes, use 2 workers (at least) and this build https://github.com/xiph/rav1e/releases/tag/p20210831
For the same reason rav1e devs have compared aomenc's fastest preset against rav1e's slowest. To point out that rav1e massively underperforms.
