Window manager suggestion for arch newbie
I loved Blackbox's configuration, however it's been deprecated in favor of Openbox, which is WAY less friendly. BB has a modern fork which works for the most part, but expect corner-cases.

LXQt 1.1.0 is available for testing now in Lubuntu kinetic

Paradox of ligher Desktop Managers
Have you already had a look at LXQt? It worked pretty well for me and with lxqt-config it also has a graphical interface for the settings. Not even 24 hours ago, a new version of LXQt was released, so the project is still active.

I am using manjaro linux kernel:5.10 Brightness control not working
Same issue here, the brightness slider disappeared. I now adjust the brightness using this: https://github.com/lxqt/lxqt-config
