Starship.rs: minimal, fast prompt for any shell
> I do wish fish could seamlessly convert and run bash scripts on the fly..
It can. With a little help. I use this:

Oh My Zsh
I've been using it for years and most things I need nowadays just work (i.e. have Fish support out of the box).
For all the rest, perhaps give https://github.com/edc/bass a try.

fish-shell: the user-friendly command-line shell
If you're running a script, you can use edc/bass to run it from a fish shell. Fisher is one of the first things I install after fish, then bass, z and a few other helper plugins.

My ultimate shell setup with Fish shell and Tmux
Use bass to drop down to bash from fish :)

new convert here, very happy!
As for POSIX, I'll just type bash and do what I need to do, or call a script. You also might want to use the plugin bass, because some programs do not pick up on variables that are set in fish. I think there are other similar plugins, but in my experience bass is the best one. https://github.com/edc/bass

Converting some bash script to fish shell
This is an older utility, but still a good one - Bass attempts to make the transition from Bash/Zsh to Fish a little simpler: https://github.com/edc/bass

Using nvm with fish shell [Linux]

Help getting set up with Node?
I think https://github.com/edc/bass might help?

Hi fishers ! Please help me replicate this simple bash script (I am new)
There are a few ways to work with it, either it simply has "var=val" statements that you could turn into a while read loop that sets variables, or you would need something like bass.

Fish Shell
There is no need to change `$SHELL` :-/ you can use Bass (https://github.com/edc/bass) to execute any bash script and it will apply the environment variables to the current fish environment.

Improve your productivity by using more terminal and less mouse (🚀).
If you are not using oh-my-zsh, you are missing out on some amazing plugins. One feature most people wish the terminal had is autocompletion. With the zsh-autosuggestions plugin, your terminal will autocomplete most commands and remember previous ones.

Fish shell 3.7.0: last release branch before the full Rust rewrite
The big thing for me was the intuitive auto-completion which I hadn't seen anywhere else at the time, but this is now also available in zsh via this plugin:

fish-shell: the user-friendly command-line shell
Am i the only one who feels fish is not worth it despite of hype? Don't get me wrong. I think that fish is really good shell.
BUT...
After adding the following plugins to zsh(before you chime in, it's just adding these lines, not anything configuring much. also it auto bootstraps on new install), I found out that fish is no where near configured zsh.
1) https://github.com/zdharma-continuum/zinit (plugin manager)
2) https://github.com/zdharma-continuum/fast-syntax-highlightin...
3) https://github.com/zdharma-continuum/history-search-multi-wo...
4) https://github.com/zsh-users/zsh-autosuggestions
5) https://github.com/zsh-users/zsh-completions
6) https://github.com/Aloxaf/fzf-tab
7) any good shell prompt generator like https://github.com/romkatv/powerlevel10k
For example, I use fzf integration for tab completion. Fish's fzf integration is nowhere as good as that of zsh's. Also, posix compat and almost bash compat of zsh is plus.
I acknowledge that zsh isn't perfect shell either and I have tried and failed few times in past to switch to fish. If you provide me compelling reason/s to switch to fish, I am all ears.
