Baserow β Self Hosted Airtable Alternative Launches No-Code Application Builder
Hey, I'm one of the founders of Baserow. We launched the beta of our application builder last week. It allows you to build database-driven websites, web applications, and portals. It's in the same product as our database module, and will work seamlessly together with it. More information can be found in the release blog post linked to this post, and in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjE7gxkPlDs. Even though it's in an early state, it's already possible to try it out on https://baserow.io or by self-hosting the latest version. Happy to answer all the questions you might have.

Show HN: Teable β Open-Source No-Code Database Fusion of Postgres and Airtable
What are the main differences compared to Baserow (https://baserow.io/)?

Collecting data from non-technical users.
You could try something like Baserow and your users can enter data directly into the database.

I published a 15-year list of product management articles that covers much of my career to date. Saved first in bookmarks, then in Wordpress, then in Airtable, now in Baserow.
Alternatives were Rows and Airtable. Rows tends to be better at calculation, while Airtable tends to be better at storing and sorting data as a database. I was not aware of the open-source alternative called Baserow at the time. I did not choose any office suite like Google Docs or Microsoft 365 because they seemedβ¦ too old-fashioned, I guess, while I wanted glitter. β¨

I want to create sheets that work like Airtable (www.airtable.com) and use it in my django application any suggestions on how it can be done.
And their code is open source: Link

Any good production grade DRF samples for CRUD apps?
Baserow: https://github.com/bram2w/baserow , if you look under the "Backend" folder, it's a DRF backend.

Ask HN: What is the easiest way to create a CRUD web app in 2024?
Budibase is great at generating CRUD apps based on a model.

Airplane acquired by Airtable and is shutting down
Congratulations to the Airplane team.
Is this Airtable moving in the direction of low-code rather than no code? Puts them up against tools like Budibase [https://github.com/Budibase/budibase] and Retool [Https://retool.com]

Pipe Dreams: The life and times of Yahoo Pipes
I skipped to chapter 9 in the article ("Clogged"), and it looked like Pipes failed because it didn't have a large enough team or a well-defined mission. As a result they couldn't offer a super robust product that would lure in enterprise users. "You could not purchase some number of guaranteed-to-work Pipes calls per month" is the quote from the article.
The reason I think that interesting is because that's the model these days for everything from AI tokens to Monday.com seats. It makes me feel like Pipes was before its time.
That said I've been collecting different "business glue" products that are similar to Pipes. To me, like you say, they aren't as interesting, exciting and intuitive as Pipes was, but maybe it just takes a little more digging. I tried to focus on open source tools but some aren't.
