alexa-video VS iptv

The excellent self-build skills https://github.com/balsimpson/alexa-radio and https://github.com/NovaGL/alexa-video use Autocode. Unfortunately, Autocode's free service of 1000 requests doesn't last very long, a matter of days. To upgrade it's $20/month, which isn't worth it for me. Anybody clever enough to know of a free Autocode alternative and re-write the code?

I mostly use three skills to play radio and watch TV. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09RKCN3CN, https://github.com/balsimpson/alexa-radio, https://github.com/NovaGL/alexa-video. I tried calling stations with other better known apps, station starts playing but it still wouldn't stop.

I don't use Tunein, go direct with radio-browser skill to listen when I don't want video (at night or dot), use https://github.com/NovaGL/alexa-video to watch on echo 5. https://cnn-cnninternational-1-eu.rakuten.wurl.tv/playlist.m3u8. Install https://github.com/NovaGL/alexa-video and add your channels.

I don't know how to hand-off to another echo. What I do is start playing something on a speaker group then shout out the news station I want to listen to. Unfortunately, the speaker group can only do audio, not video. So although I can play video (BBC, CNN, Sky, etc.) using the video skill, https://github.com/NovaGL/alexa-video, on a single Echo Show, I have to ask the radio skill, https://github.com/balsimpson/alexa-radio, to play the TV channel to get audio playing on all the devices (echos and dots) in the rooms I will be in.

You can try news from Reuters. Or you can install https://github.com/NovaGL/alexa-video and get BBC and Sky UK streams from https://github.com/iptv-org/iptv/blob/master/channels/uk.m3u. If outside UK, you need to use smartdns servers in your Show or router BBC

Good enough that I have about 30 radio stations listed.:) In some instances it's used as the primary source, and others as a backup. There is also a sister skill for video which I use to play news stations from all over the place, https://github.com/NovaGL/alexa-video.

There are many IPTV providers, but for the purpose of this post I will only discuss the largest free option, IPTV-org on GitHub.

call your provider and ask them how to proceed. They should provide you with a list via a URL. Here's a free list of publicly available channels from around the world: https://github.com/iptv-org/iptv Might be worth trying to make sure it works with your Roku. If not, could always invest in an Android TV box
