The behavior of not extracting outside the specified directory has been the default since forever in Rust's tar. And then it had two RUSTSEC advisories for not handling this correctly in certain corner cases. The latest one in 2021.

`cargo audit` can now scan compiled binaries
However, I keep getting this error when running cargo audit bin ~/.cargo/bin/*, even if I replace * with a specific binary: Fetching advisory database from `https://github.com/RustSec/advisory-db.git` Loaded 467 security advisories (from C:\Users\jonah\.cargo\advisory-db) Updating crates.io index error: I/O operation failed: The system cannot find the path specified. (os error 3) I'm on Windows 10.

I usually open an issue asking if the crate is still maintained. If there isn't a response for a decent amount of time (like multiple months) and the crate is somewhat popular then it could be worth opening an unmaintained advisory in the advisory-db

Github Dependency graph adds vulnerability alerting support for Rust
FWIW the RustSec database is still not synced into the Github databse on a regular basis, even though they did an initial import of it. So the cargo audit github action is still relevant.

Any rust implementations of WebTransport ?
Neqo (Mozilla) and Quiche (Cloudflare) both implement QUIC and HTTP/3. I believe they are both developing an implementation of WebTransport.

Firefox – Fix parsing of content-length http3 header
Mozilla has a Rust QUIC implementation (one of three good ones in Rust) https://github.com/mozilla/neqo
I'm not sure why it's not used here.

Which QUIC crate should I use
As an code hobbyist I'm working on an opensource project where I would be happy to use QUIC. I did a little research and found Quinn and Quiche but also the Mozilla's implementation for which I couldn't find crate Neqo.

QUIC is now RFC 9000
Is it possible to compile quicly cli (referenced in the blog post) with musl instead of glibc. I had to add signal.h and it then compiled successfully but I got illegal instruction segfault when executing cli.

QUIC and HTTP/3 Support Now in Firefox Nightly and Beta
The reason is the need to have total flexibility (control). [0]
I reckon to make it as painless as possible to integrate it into Firefox. Also probably a tiny bit of not-invented-here syndrome too :)
