AlynaaMC is a mix of JettPack, Pufferfish, Paper and Yatopia (and you might want to read this, by the way, TL;DR: Yatopia is a buggy and unstable fork that is not even continued anymore)... Also, JettPack is just a playground for his dev so you definitely shouldn't use it at all.
  • Why do people not recommend Yatopia as minecraft server software?

Benchmarking server software is kinda difficult, and it really depends on what situation your server is running in. But an example is that our collision patches are MUCH faster than airplane and other forks (see here https://github.com/YatopiaMC/Yatopia/pull/458). But how our optimizations add up to affect your server really depends on a server-by-server basis. A standardized testing framework for server softwares is really needed!!

If you really need optimization and desperately crave performance, you can check out Yatopia. It's a really fast fork of Purpur (meaning it has Paper, Tuinity, Airplane and Purpur, and its own features), however it's a little bit less stable. Some people had issues with it, although I've never run into any.

If you want pure performance then use Yatopia which is a fork of many other server software like Paper, Purpur, Tuinity, Airplane, Origami, Akarin, EMC, and mods like Lithium. Also use this guide [GUIDE] Server Optimization⚡ | SpigotMC - High Performance Minecraft.

That’s a very detailed thread OP! I also suggest another server software called Yatopia MC, which is a fork (or flavour) of Tunity, but includes in a build of Purpur and the performance fixes of Paper. All plugins that work with Bukkit and his forks (Spigot, Paper etc.) will also work on Yatopia MC: and the best part? It includes optimisation mods like Starlight and other chunk loading efficiency mods. I recommend to see their GitHub if you feel a little bit Geeky and want to know the features of this server software!

Right this is what you need to know: For 100 players you are going to need to have pretty decent specs, depending on your budget. For cheap but quality hosting look here WitherHosting and select the plan you can afford. From there you are going to need some optimised software. I would recommend something like Tunity or even YatopiaMC (this is what I use, Yatopia - Blazing-fast Minecraft. (yatopiamc.org) ). Once you have this, to allow everyone to join (bedrock and java) you are going to need to install GeyserMC (a bridge to allow bedrock players to join). From there also install Floodgate to allow bedrock players to connect without buying a java edition account. This may all seem very complex, but just look up a video on Youtube and you will find one thats easy to follow.

If you are really desperate for better performance, I suggest trying out Yatopia. It contains however more drastic optimizations that can noticeably change game behavior.

Well, if you can't find another datapack and don't want to go the way of creating custom arrows, you can try to optimize your server as much as possible. Instead of PaperMC, use Pufferfish, install Temurin JDK 17 and run your server with startup flags from hilltty, based on the Shenandoah garbage collector. Also, following this guide, optimize the values in the configuration files (like paper.yml).
  • Have no budget but an old pc. Will this work?
    1 project | /r/admincraft | 26 May 2022
    - They upstream all of pufferfishes optimizations, which include async mob spawning, 30% faster hoppers, and much more. That also includes all of airplane's optimizations. ^ this is really good, check https://github.com/pufferfish-gg/Pufferfish for reference & list of the optimizations.. - Villager brain ticks & lobotomization - use-alternate-keepalive, but it helps a lot with players who have bad internet connections from disconnecting. + TPS bar isn't a performance improvement, but it's a really good feature. + Especially for survival servers, the truckload of additional options and configurations for gameplay that are disabled by default, and can be enabled at your discretion.

Also, consider using one of the Paper forks that includes further performance improvements. For 1.18.2 two options are Pufferfish and Purpur. Pufferfish has a lot of optimizations, but now Purpur actually downstreams Pufferfish too so it includes all of its improvements (plus a ton of other features which are optional and turned off by default). Purpur as far as I can tell is currently the most complete Paper fork, the only downside in my opinion is that they only support the latest versions of Minecraft. Previous Purpur versions have not been patched for Log4Shell. Since you are running 1.18.2, this shouldn't be a problem, but keep this in mind for the future - if using Purpur you'll want to update soon after a new server version releases to continue getting support, or switch to another Paper fork (which shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't use any of the optional Purpur features). I personally prefer just using the latest version anyway though, and then I use ViaVersion plus ViaBackwards to support older clients.

  • What are the advantages of Purpurmc over Papermc?
    1 project | /r/admincraft | 8 Jan 2022
PurpurMC is mainly only used for it's features. It's got a ton of them, all of which you can view here! It now has Pufferfish patches as well, giving you improved performance. It does not bring back glitches that PaperMC removed, However, you can enable or disable sand duping within its configuration IIRC.
