Stop scanf from waiting for the user input
Non-blocking IO is probably your best bet. As someone who's spent a while programming for the command-line, I actually implemented a non-blocking read function for both windows and *nix, the output of which could simply be passed to sscanf. Take a look at the tglutil_read function from line 1092 here

I'm giving out microgrants to open source projects for the third year in a row! Brag about your projects here so I can see them, big or small!
TermGL is my open-source terminal graphics library, capable of both 2D and 3D color ASCII graphics in the terminal. It's written in C and only uses the standard library, so using it is really is as simple as importing the source files and compiling them.

According to a survey, only 36% of PC gamers buy games at full price.
You should try using Legendary. It's an open-source command-line client for Epic. It does pretty much what Epic does but it's quicker to install/launch games and you won't have to worry about telemetry or "spyware." Although, you will have to buy games through the Epic online store.

[HELP] Problems when i try to run a program using wine.
I'm using an open-source alternative to the epic games launcher (legendary) that uses wine, and when i try to run a game through the terminal, a log of wine shows up.

New game launcher for mac coming soon!
It's an epic games launcher alternative, and a UI frontend for Legendary. (Don't worry, guys. It can launch non-epic games as well 😅) It's simply meant to be like heroic, but this time putting macOS first.

Installed a new os but kept my epic games stuff on my ssd, how do I use the games?
If you are familiar with using the command-line then you can use Legendary and import the game to your EGS, but you will need to do this one by one for each game.
-
guilt pleasure fr,
Oh, you're talking about the launcher? Just use Legendary. CLI-based, so performance isn't an issue. If you know how to use a command line, you'll know how to use legendary with no problem. You can even launch some games without ever connecting to Epic after downloading them. Highly recommend, it's what I use.

Usan el launcher de Epic para jugar?
Hay un launcher alternativo, Legendary. (https://github.com/derrod/legendary). Se usa con comandos (al menos la última vez que lo usé no tenÃa interfaz). Es.. interesante.

UPDATE on running Diabotical on Linux
Grab your favorite EGS client and install the game. For this purpose I am using legendary. Legendary is important later, so it is a good idea to have it installed regardless. At this stage, if you try running the game, the game will crash within moments, and spawn 2 windows: a Wine debug window, and a bugsplat window.

Is it safer to launch EPIC games with GOG? (fear of spyware)
If you want to avoid using the Epic Games Launcher, but still want to play the games you have there, you can use Legendary (which requires you to use a command line) or Heroic Games Launcher(which is based on Legengary and has a Graphical User Interface, so is much more user friendly). Both are open source.
