What’s the best way to install App Man, direct or via distrobox?

You may also find useful this project. It's a preconfigured Clover that can automatically reinstall itself after system upgrades. It automatically detects different OS on different drives and some OS are already preconfigured with beautiful icons. Works flawlessly for me, tested with Ventoy USB drive with multiple images and with Tails (Deck is an amazing device for anonymous Internet access!) on SDCard. The only things I adjusted were menu timeout and theme. I'm not sure if it's better or worse compared to refind.

I use SteamDeck-Clover-dualboot to manage a dual boot. Updates to either SteamOS or Windows will often mess with the boot priority, so installing this script on the SteamOS side tends to help. When one OS “takes over,” manually booting into SteamOS fixes it right up.
updated the Clover script. bugfix, added several Linux distros and added Clover Toolbox - a simple GUI / menu to toggle settings

Portable arch linux, whilst using the same drive as an external storage, for say windows?
2 projects | /r/archlinux | 28 May 2023
Partition the drive so you can reserve some space as external storage for Windows. Using the extFAT filesystem for the storage partition is a great option since it is well-supported by both Arch and Windows, and it also allows for files larger than 4GB to be stored. btrfs can also be used, but you'll need to install WinBtrfs on Windows to be able to read it from there.2 projects | /r/archlinux | 28 May 2023
So you want to be able to access the drive from windows too? That might be a little tricky, as linux cant install on some file systems, while windows cant read pretty much those exact file systems. Now, this leaves two options. Number 1: You go and make a seperate /home partition, that can be ntfs or fat32 or whatever windows will accept, while keeping your root in ext4 or whatever you like. Number 2: Make a single root partition, and format it as btrfs, then use an experimental btrfs driver and mount your flash drive that way. Keep in mind however, that its an experimental thing. This driver worked fine on one pc, however, on another it caused bluescreens every 2nd time id turn on the pc.

How to transfer files to Steam deck?
3 projects | /r/SteamDeck | 3 Mar 2023
Switch to using BTRFS on the sd card and use the Windows BTRFS driver. https://github.com/maharmstone/btrfs Many emulator handhelds use this method for their ROM sd cards. I have not tried it.
Is there any free version of this app" linux file systems for windows by paragon" available? They saying I need to pay $20 just so I can transfer my files from a Linux based file system to Windows which is actually absurd.
2 projects | /r/Piracy | 3 Mar 2023
For Btrfs based filesystems, you can use WinBtrfs, which let',s you access the partitions as regular drives https://github.com/maharmstone/btrfs
