I'm new to all this, help a guy out pls (easy)...
If you compiled with external resources, then there should be a folder called "res" in the builds folder, it contains all the textures. If you find a texture pack you want, you can drag the contents of the texture pack into the res folder, just make sure that the names of the subfolders match up. Sorry if I did not explain it well, for a texture pack I would recommend the render96 hq texture pack.

the co-op fork works single player too, and seems to be the best maintained of all the mario 64 ports https://github.com/djoslin0/sm64ex-coop

But I am planning to compile sm64ex-coop for my Steam Deck because that thing is genuinely so fun.

I got the Super Mario 64 multiplayer mod and it works PERFECTLY.

How to do 4 player coop
You can play coop actually up to 16 players with the mod of djoslin0. You need to compile the unstable branch https://github.com/djoslin0/sm64ex-coop (its unstable, some bugs and lags but playable, the creator is working on the mod at the moment)
