Fabric is telling me i dont have a mod, even though i do (CurseForge)
As u/NatoBoram said, consider using PrismLauncher instead of Cursforge. It adds compatibility for Modrinth (which has far more mods and a faster UI and API than Curseforge), and never failed me with such mistakes.

introducing packwiz2nix: one of the best tools for creating minecraft modpacks, now compatible with nix!
hi all! recently i've started work on hosting a minecraft server, configured mostly declaratively with nixos and nix-minecraft. one small problem i found was that there wasn't really a way to easily use packwiz (a great tool i use to keep modpacks up to date automatically, distribute to friends across multiple launchers, and deploy to servers) modpacks i already had - so, i figured why not integrate it with nix!

Packwiz Virus
I installed an application called packwiz https://github.com/packwiz/packwiz and it tried the access the oculus vr setup which seems like a folder no good program would try to access.

Building Minecraft modpacks on linux?
Perhaps try using the CLI tool packwiz. It's the one I personally use to maintain my packs
-
Ferium 3.20.1! Ferium is a CLI Minecraft mod manager for Modrinth, CurseForge, and GitHub Releases, and it has been updated a lot since the first announcement, update your local copies now!
For modpacks, I'd recommend looking into Packwiz support. https://github.com/packwiz/packwiz

Launcher to use nowadays ?
If you're creating a pack then browse for mods on the actual CurseForge (or Modrinth) sites and use Packwiz to manage the installation/updates of those mods.

Is there a way to set up a modded server (forge) that doesn't require me to lead all my not so technologically inclined friends through the maze of installing mods.
If you are more technically inclined and have some server hosting space to spare, you might want to consider things like packwiz - this adds a MultiMC pre-launch hook that automatically updates modpacks - or SKCraft Launcher, a sort of "white-label launcher" that distributes whatever modpacks you like.
-
Is there any ways that I can share a custom modpack with a friend?
