The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Looking for some examples of well-organized open-source games in C++
One of the users here created Croissant Renderer (Vulkan) which is well made, I'd tag him but I don't remember his username. https://github.com/SaferGo/CroissantVulkanRenderer

Hi! This is my Vulkan renderer called Croissant. I decided to learn Vulkan and graphics techniques by creating a renderer. Although it is still a work in progress and lacks several features, I hope that sharing my project may be helpful to others who are also learning!
Here is the link to the repo.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing PhysarumComputeShader and CroissantVulkanRenderer you can also consider the following projects:
HybridRenderingEngine - Clustered Forward/Deferred renderer with Physically Based Shading, Image Based Lighting and a whole lot of OpenGL.
kwin-effect-shaders - Desktop effect for KDE Plasma to apply GLSL shaders. Alternative to vkBasalt or ReShade when they are unsupported.
loaf - loaf: lua, osc, and openFrameworks
tinykaboom - A brief computer graphics / rendering course
SoftGLRender - Tiny C++ Software Renderer / Rasterizer, and implements OpenGL and Vulkan renderers for comparison
SoftwareRenderer - Software rendering engine with PBR. Built from scratch on C++.
