To keep costs down, Keep an eye on local market place and classified sites for a cheapish gaming PC with an AMD card in it (RX’s 5700 / 5700xt / 5600xt / 6600xt / 6600). Success - Acer C720-3404 with Core i3 (OpenCore Mojave and Big Sur).
I was happy to see the battery didn't have larger than 8-bit registers, so no battery ACPI patching required, yay. You just need to install SMCBatteryManager.kext
