Clipboard broken in UWP apps only
As far as I could tell it's a UWP app specific issue (ie calculator, file explorer, paint3D). Nothing happens in these apps when i try to paste something, calculator even crashes if i try to copy, and I know nothing gets put into the clipboard as the last thing i copied from a non-UWP app is still possible to paste in other non-UWP apps. I verified this using powershell with the Get-Clipboard command. Notepad works fine, but afaik it's not UWP. I do have a custom UWP notepad installed (https://github.com/0x7c13/Notepads) which DOES have this issue.

Looking for a quick scratchpad app for Windows
Notpads maybe work for you. It keeps everything saved automatically.

Even though there’s a huge confidential banner, an employee apparently didn’t see it and leaked notepad with tabs lmao
You make a good few points, though the base already exists, and is open source! You can contribute here and bring the few features you think the Notepads app currently lacks.

A simple alternative to MS Notepad that doesnt automatically back up my notes. Using Windows 11.
Notepads is a good FOSS alternative to the default windows notepad. That said, stop storing your passwords in a text file. Consider using a password manager like Bitwarden and KeepassXC instead.
- Any good dark theme for Windows 11?

Is Zettelkasten for everyone, or just some types of thinkers?
If you're doing research, you should learn to use Zotero too and search the right tool for you. There are a lot of options, the best -to me- are Obsidian, Zettlr (before 2.0.0), Joplin and Vim (haven´t tried emacs enough to say anything). I also use a simple text editor like Notepads (Windows) or Nano for quick notes ([espanso](espanso.org) can be useful if you want to use quick templates too).

microsoft's react native gallery - good practices & sons - they chose web so they can better serve their customers
but the problems is not native software really, it's Microsoft software. their modern TEXT EDITOR breaks on large text files because their fucking RichTextEditor component can't fucking handle pagination https://github.com/JasonStein/Notepads/issues/10

Will always appreciate how Windows 10's UX is so unique compared to MacOS. Square corners are a blessing imo.
That's not the default windows notepad. It's an app called Notepads. It is free and open-source, and it is very fast too. It is also available on the Microsoft store here
- Notepads: A modern, lightweight text editor with a minimalist design
- Notepads - A modern, lightweight text editor with a minimalist design (free open source, better then built in Windows Notepad, has dark mode)

What is your use case for One Note?
The situation isn’t as bad as it would be for a cloud only service though. As long as you have backups, you can open the “.one” files with OneNote even if you have no access to OneDrive or sync. You can also use an external tool like the OneNote markdown exporter (https://github.com/alxnbl/onenote-md-exporter) to get a copy that at least has the basic content accessible outside of OneNote.

Been using Obsidian for 2 months. Never going back.
Are you on Windows? I used this to migrate to Joplin before I started using Obsidian. It's a quick way to get your notes into markdown. Did a great job for mine.
