Who knew Valve would actually make the Steam Deck?
Ok, I've installed it. The script in lutris indeed did not work, but it had a link in the description. That link sends you here: Official Lutris Installer (for Linux) · Issue #10686 · Nexus-Mods/Vortex · GitHub

Valve Revises Steam Survey Results For December - Still Pointing Down For Linux
A lot of those will actually work in Wine/Proton, though configuring it is a pain in the ass. Vortex is supposedly getting close to native Linux support and that's a major one, in the meantime this script for Lutris seems to be recommended by the people working on Vortex. Apparently the one on Lutris itself uses an outdated version and is much jankier.

(BUG) VMM Prompting for user to install .nET desktop runtime 6.0.9 when it's already installed
https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Vortex/issues/12680 This guy was having the same issue as I was, but then a moderator came in and said "it was fixed in an update" before closing the problem, but clearly the problem still exists. You can't just pretend problems aren't there.

Vortex latest update issue
If this doesn't fix your problems, you'll either need to wait for next Vortex beta-release, or alternatively you can first in Vortex under Settings - Vortex change "Update" to "No automatic updates" and afterwards download and install an older Vortex version from https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Vortex/releases

anyone else having an issue with vortex installing new mods?
i tried seeing if there was a way i could manually repath it, but i couldn't find anything in the settings (correct me if im wrong). but in the notification with the error, there's no fix option. all it says is it cant execute ModInstallerIPC.exe and gives no further information (no error code, no details). im really lost here :p but it seems im not alone https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Vortex/issues/12308

And as you said some have native launchers, r2modman is one I have used for Risk of Rain 2, and for World of Warcraft Curseforge has a native one, though I like wowup.CF more for addons. And games using the steam workshop should work ootb of course.
