Might and Guile: Modular. Adds everything from additional thief, ranger, and bard kits to some fun multiclass kits (ie, the halfling slinger, a halfling fighter/thief equivalent of the ranger Archer kit) to a complete overhaul of the bard class, turning them all into multiclasses with passive auras (in lieu of modal bardsong) that cast spontaneously like sorcerers. I haven't played enough with all of these (especially the revised bards) to comment much on them, but the new kits are both distinct from vanilla kits and similar power-wise. The reworked stalker (loses mage spells, gains snares and shortsword/dagger mastery) and beast master (a shapeshifter-lite, it gains a spirit wolf buddy and a wolf and werewolf beast shape) are particular standouts - combined with the Improved Rangers component which adds a reduced backstab multiplier and improved sight radius for all rangers, it does a lot to carve out a proper niche for the class. The thief Ninja kit is also very fun to play, in both its single- and multi-classed versions: it gains several pseudo-magical abilities (such as reflected image, knock, and sanctuary), cast using ki points gained at every other level. There's a fantastic breadth of options, many of which feel well-suited for NPCs.

Tome & Blood, Might & Guile, and Faiths & Powers in effect overhaul most of the classes. T&B has some fun options for mages, specialist mages in particular, and sorcerers, including a Favored Soul kit that gains access to a handful of cleric spells. M&G bards are fundamentally different from vanilla classes - multiclass thief/mages or fighter/mages that cast spontaneously and use passive auras rather than active bardsong to aid allies. Very cool. And F&P's sphere system (I've been using nuFnP) makes clerics and druids feel totally distinct from each other. The elemental mystic druid kits feel (and play) totally different from, for example, the Hivemaster. Super fun.

If you like 3E bards you might like the bard overhaul in Might & Guile, which gives bards spontaneous spellcasting and changes their bard songs into something more like NWN2’s “inspirations” which can be active even while you fight and cast spells (for the most part).

Well, yes, because it doesn't really feel they add much to the table. I wouldn't roll a bard myself either. But then I found the Might & Guile mod which tuned bard kits into multiclass kits... and revamped the songs... and I can see this community doesn't like rulechanges but this became one of my cornerstones of the game.

Faiths and Powers: a massive overhaul for clerics, druids, shamans, and paladins. A note, first: I love this mod, but its sphere system does not always play nice with other mods, as cleric kits which do not have defined F&P spheres become limited to Universal spells. This makes them effectively useless (and necessitates the Dual to Kit mod). It is technically compatible with the kits in Artisan’s Kitpack, Divine Remix, I Hate Undead, and Will of the Wisps (possibly others? unsure), in the sense that all of these kits will have spheres and weapon/armor usability properly assigned, but I haven’t tested this in much depth yet. However, please note that the sphere system and weapon changes are optional, and that you can change sphere allocations prior to installation by editing the relevant .tpa files. I really enjoy this mod for the diversity it allows among divine casters: I have a BG1 party with Branwen (Broken Blade of Tempus), Ajantis (Everwatch Knight of Helm), and Kivan (ranger/cleric of Mielikki, allows mastery in bows), and it's enormously fun. Some kits will no longer have access to cleric mainstays (chaotic commands is now limited to the Chaos sphere), but the new range of options at your disposal means that this may not be as much of a problem as it sounds. Limitations on multi- and dual-classing help to keep these kits' power levels in check. I particularly enjoy the reworked paladin class - now Champions, you can choose from new deities including Arvoreen, Corellon, Eilistraee, Kelemvor (changed to Myrkul in IWD), Kossuth, Gargauth, or the Red Knight (all with their own strengths), and after character creation you select an archetype according to what your deity permits - Zealot, Defender, or Inquisitor. Zealots gain immunity to charm/fear and a unique rage ability, possibly with additional benefits according to deity; Defenders gain disease immunity, lay on hands, smite, and a protective aura that improves allied AC; and Inquisitors gain hold immunity, Dispel Magic, and Oracle. Overall, this mod adds a huge amount to those who enjoy playing divine casters of any sort.

Faiths and Powers: I use nuFnP spheres and have everything except "spontaneous casting" installed. Note that I'm using the new pre-release fork. Conceptually this is probably my favorite divine caster overhaul: I love that Viconia, Branwen, and Anomen get such different spell selections, and the paladin revamp is similarly an enjoyable way to differentiate characters. I have run into a couple bugs - blank/improperly assigned abilities, but again, idk if it's me or the mod, because I tend to install a lot of stuff (and I'll note that they were easy fixes anyway). And not every kit mod is compatible with this mod's sphere systems, which may result in characters only having access to "universal" spells. Overall it's been a good experience, and I like the mod enough that I'm willing to chance some bugs, but I get if that's not your thing. Oh yeah, and as a final note: using any sphere system makes it so that the Dual To Kit mod is effectively mandatory for cleric or druid dual-classes.

  • Mod Question: Deities of Faerun vs Faith and Powers
    2 projects | /r/baldursgate | 14 Mar 2023
you gotta download it from github. Specifically you need the prerelease, 0.85sd19 - I've been using it for my current run and it's been stable so far, no issues. Just unzip in the folder where your other PI downloads are and manually move it to the end of the "kits" section: whatever other kits you're using, F&P should go last. It has a file for PI compatibility so it'll tell you if it's in the wrong order. Hope that helps!

WheelsOfProphecy - Wheels of Prophecy is a mod for Baldur's Gate II original or the Enhanced Edition. Wheels of Prophecy is a smallish mod that tries to add a bit more nonlinearity and roleplaying opportunity to the Throne of Bhaal expansion, mostly but not entirely centered around chapter nine. In summary, Wheels of Prophecy doesn't change the events of Throne of Bhaal (not much, anyway), but it does let the player interact with them in a much more flexible way.
