Reoccurring/ongoing support of a creator is a great idea. This (beta) plugin not currently being developed called Mecenas, which works with Electron Cash, is the only tool I'm aware of. I have not used it however.

BCH smart contracts are possible if you install Electron Cash plugins, like Mecenas. I've programmed some addresses which return whatever money is sent to them, using covenants, but there's a malleability problem with that idea. I'm toying with the idea of colored OpCodes for BCH script.

I go the opposite way. I trust a company that takes my money to pay its costs to keep my privacy. As opposed to a company who "doesn't know who I am". (Apart from unique fingerprint https://amiunique.org/ over many queries over many months)
