Very interesting. If you have a laptop with a webcam you can try this: https://github.com/lucidcode/LucidScribe-Halovision - use the motion-detection algorithm and it should play an audio alarm if you move into the field of vision of the camera. I have an old Android version floating around somewhere as well. Let me know if you need help getting it running.

Question About Xamarin and Servers
Hey. If you can Get away with community toolkit player, I would try that. I had some problems with its audio init(it always overrides audio profile on play), so I used https://github.com/Baseflow/XamarinMediaManager which is also excellent).
