Illegal-Mod-Sites VS CDDA-Game-Launcher

There are a couple of sites hosting mods without authors permissions etc, sometimes claiming to have mods that don't even exist. Make sure to avoid all sites listed here: https://stopmodreposts.org/

Im aware of this site (https://stopmodreposts.org/) but I was wondering if any sites in the past had actually been taken down/removed, or removed specific mods upon authors requests.

Where to get mods? Most important bit first - https://stopmodreposts.org/ There's a lot of websites that claim to be hosting mods but are actually full of shit. They are lying about the mod, or worse, tricking people into downloading malware/viruses.

Fighting them is kind of pointless since the owner is often in a country that doesn't care about copyright, and if they get removed from Google they'll just spin up a new site within a few hours. The best way to fight them is by teaching new members of the community to avoid them. https://stopmodreposts.org/

Yeah... stay away from whatever website that is. You should generally only get your mods from CurseForge or Modrinth. The overwhelming vast majority of other sites are illegal reposts (https://stopmodreposts.org/).

for experimental I use this launcher. https://github.com/remyroy/CDDA-Game-Launcher/releases

I don't know what launcher people use, but this file on this one defines the cdda repo urls: https://github.com/remyroy/CDDA-Game-Launcher/blob/master/cddagl/constants.py You could probably just changes that file to use tish urls.

I highly recommend using a launcher, like the CDDA Launcher (which is not being updated anymore but still works well), or Catapult. These will not only launch the game, but will allow you to easily manage tilesets, soundpacks, save backups, etc.

Also, the game is 100% free. Gets multiple experimental updates daily (open-source). And has a fairly extensive modding scene with multiple tileset options to play with. You can grab the launcher here and it will let you download everything you need to start messing around.
