Controlling AC (IR) via HA?
Another option that might be available in your country is the Logitech Harmony Hub. Harmony integrates directly with Home Assistant and you can use the Harmony Climate Component to configure the AC unit so it shows up as a thermostat in Home Assistant.

I'm also using an "oldfashioned" wired speaker on my Pi for the same purpose and solved this with https://github.com/Poeschl/Hassio-Addons/tree/master/mpd, (I run HA supervised instalation in Docker, availability may depend on the type of your installation).
