I've just checked, OBS captures Archolos (Gothic 2) without problems for me. I suspect it may have something to do with the Directx11 patch. It's a nice thing to have in general. https://github.com/kirides/GD3D11

Got it! One last question for you: Since I plan to use GD3D11 and there seems to be quite a lot of forks available, what's the recommended version here? E.G: kirides version, SaiyansKing version, etc? Or it doesn't matter?

I will Finally play the Gothic games! Which mods and fixes do you recommend for a vanilla experience?
For a new player, for both Gothic 1 and 2, the only things you need are Union and Ninja. If you're feeling like upgrading the graphics a bit too, the DX11 renderer is a great option.

Don't know who Orange is and what renderer Spine has available - I'd recommend https://github.com/SaiyansKing/GD3D11 (the renderer Chrinicles of Myrtana team recommended).

Help, I can't run Gothic 2 even after installing Union from the Steam Workshop. I'm using Windows 11, Steam, and RTX 4060. I tried following some of the guides in this subreddit too. Any help is much appreciated, thanks!
try to install DX11 mod which changes how the game renders to something more modern that perhaps will cooperate better (https://github.com/SaiyansKing/GD3D11 is the version I'd recommend)

How to run old games on a RX 7900 XTX?
Please do not use antique DX11 from Spine. It is not updated at all, missing tons of features and QoL. I recommend the latest version from Saiyans King, which is still being developed. https://github.com/SaiyansKing/GD3D11/releases

Can't open Gothic 1 and Gothic 2
Then, when you're done installing Union (aka PlayerKit and Systempack 2.0), download this DirectX 11 (there will be a prompt to download the .zip file in your browser) and then extract the contents from that .zip file to your Gothic (1&2)/system folder.

The DX11 renderer has improved a lot. Make sure you install latest version, it's called clockwork edition in Spine or you can download from github.
