If you look at recharging the device a good charging circuit and low quiescent LDO is needed. Andreas Spieß (popular YouTuber in this domain) compared several developer boards. Mp3 Shuffle Function
Using DfPlayer mini and this library I've managed to make a basic MP3 player with an arduino communicating with it using serial.
