Ah damn... sorry, for some reason I had Vesperia in mind. I'm currently playing Symphonia via Steam and I installed the patches & HD textures you can install with the KSFIX Install Manager you can download here: https://github.com/Kaldaien/FAR/releases/download/far_057/SKIM64.exe

Oh you unistall FAR you can download the Skim64 on the creator's github under assets, then completely erase the game instalation folder.

Try this mod

The FAR mod is a runtime DLL injection; if you're getting crashes consistently it's because you did something wrong. The creator's github provides thorough documentation on how to install correctly. My guess is you either have outdated Visual C++ Redistributable libraries, you're using a mismatched version of ReShade, or the FAR mod itself was installed incorrectly.

Use https://github.com/mmvanheusden/SteamDepotDownloaderGUI to easily download the old version again

Use either Steam Depot Downloader or the Steam Dev Console to download the 2017 version of Automata.

A graphical user interface for DepotDownloader, for users that aren't experienced with the command line.

Use this to download the raw files from steam, I believe you can do the URL trick as well, then use Steamless to remove the DRM. Then you have a crack that you know is 99.9% safe.

PSA: If you accidentally have auto-updated and this breaks important mods for you (or does not work well on your hardware), you should be able to use https://github.com/mmvanheusden/SteamDepotDownloaderGUI to redownload the old version.
