Please help me find a semi Permanent OS
personally, KDE neon makes a great, stable windows-like os on Linux for me. as for file sharing, the best method is a hard/flash drive to store files. if you want to share files between computers on the same network use nitroshare

Okay. So, you have to PC Windows and Ubuntu, right? You can create an smb share and access it through your Windows PC. Or you can use Nitroshare. And make sure your both PC have a Gigabit ethernet connection. The best way to test your network is iPerf.
