How do you list your 4k movies in Plex?
I use the "Hide 4K" script from https://github.com/jkirkcaldy/plex-utills which sets an "untranscodable" tag on anything that only has a 4K copy and not also an HD copy. Then you can lump everything into one Movies and one TV Shows lib, and when sharing with friends, disallow the "Untranscodable" label for those you don't want streaming 4K. Script is setup to run nightly and will remove the tag if you later add an HD version.

Is this too much to ask for... ability to add subcategories
you could put a label on all 4k content and exclude that label for the users (plex-utils might be able to automate the process)
-
Is it possible to add the feature to create smart playlists based on the file name? Like I want to create a playlist for Atmos or DTS:X movies, and my rips movies file names have the word Atmos in them. This will make life easy to find movies in Atmos or DTS:X format.
This is one of the features I'm working on for Plex-utills

Create 4k Library
--- An alternative is to run this and have a nightly "hide 4K" script run. If this is over your head then you're best off making the separate library and calling it a day.
-
How do you manage pruning your library?
Working on writing a script for this with the plexapi. It could probably be integrated into this repo and scheduled to run daily, but I'll get you a python script you can run manually with an "are you sure??" prompt today. The idea would be, you'd build a file with titles to never delete and then the script would show you all the other titles with a "lastViewedAt" attribute that is older than X days, with X configurable. Would that work?

Best way to manage 4k and 1080p content?
Now there will be times where you have a 4K film without a 1080p version and you don’t want your users to try to transcode this file then you can use my app, Plex-utills . In there is a script that will find these files, and add an ‘untranscodable’ tag to those files. You can then use that to restrict your users access to the files.
